For Your Safety

Link House senior counsellors are members of a professional body (New Zealand Association of Counsellors).

Don't hesitate to talk with your social worker about any aspect of the service with which you are dissatisfied (Link House has a complaints procedure on display in all counselling rooms).

Single Parent Counselling

We are delighted to offer a counselling service for Single Parents. This is through the generosity of a number of funding agencies who support our work.

Counselling is an opportunity to improve relationships in your family and feel better about yourself.

It can assist you to make the changes you want and discover your own strengths and resources. Your counsellor will not tell you what to do or how to do it, but will work with you to find your own solutions. Counselling is respectful and confidential.

Practicum Counselling

Link House selects mature, senior students who work at the agency as part of their course. All practicums have extensive community, health or pastoral experience and are supervised by their education establishment.

Cost

We offer a sliding scale of costs for counselling so that no-one is turned away from seeking support.  Single parent counselling is subsidised (as above) and you can decide on a small koha with your social worker prior to beginning the counselling.

Many of our clients, both single parents and low income families or individuals are able to access payment for their counselling through WINZ.  You can talk to any of the counsellors or our client services coordinator (Anne) about arranging this.  This will make the counselling free for you.  If this is not an option for you, we will still offer the counselling at the low cost of $15 - $30 a session, depending on your circumstances and whether you have a community services card or not.

If cost is a factor to you, please talk to your counsellor about it.  We want to make sure everyone can access counselling when they need it.
