Single Parent Services
Link House offers single parents:
- Support by trained social workers
- A qualified counsellor
- Help in times of crisis and emergency
- Legal advice
- Visiting WINZ advisor
- Budgeting referrals
- Education and life skills groups
- Home visits if agency access is difficult
Single parent families are on the increase in New Zealand. Our society does not yet provide people who parent alone with the assistance that would give their children the same start and opportunities in life as other families.
At Link House, staff and clients work together to create a community atmosphere where the needs of single parent caregivers are responded to in a way that promotes family relationships, helping to ensure that young people are not disadvantaged in later life.
Most services for single parent families are provided at low or no cost.
Social work at Link House means:
- talking to a professionally trained person and working together to identify individual / whanau needs.
- providing information to families on Link House single parent services or making appropriate referrals where needed.
- accessing resources where available.
- making referrals to services available for Link House single parent families:
- legal advice
- visiting WINZ advisor
- budgeting referrals
- education and life skills groups
- home visits if agency access is difficult.
For Your Safety
Link House Social Workers are members of a professional body (Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers).
Don't hesitate to talk with your social worker about any aspect of the service with which you are dissatisfied (Link House has a Complaints Procedure on display in all rooms).
